This project involved the construction of a new aromatics plant for Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indonesia in eastern Java of Indonesia.

This project began in 1996, but as the result of the Asian Financial Crisis, which struck later, JGC was forced to suspend the project for 6 years. Even during this time, JGC continued work to maintain the construction site, and manage the partially constructed equipment and delivered materials with a sustained strong desire to resume construction.

When the project resumed in 2004, JGC faced a variety of problems such as the protection of workers' rights and the rising cost of materials and equipment, but the company steadily overcame these issues to successfully complete the project.
